Many functions and easy operation:
The AM5 can be operated equatorially and azimuthally. The parallactic/equatorial mode is used for astrophotography. The mount must be aligned as precisely as possible with the celestial pole. For visual observation or moon and planetary photography, the azimuthal mode is sufficient. The mount is then ready for use in just a few minutes. The status display always indicates which mode the mount is in: red stands for equatorial and green for azimuthal mode.
No more counterweights necessary:
Normally, German mounts require counterweights to balance the telescope weight. This is the only way to ensure perfect functionality. The AM5 uses robot technology and requires no counterweights up to a telescope weight of 13 kg. This makes the AM5 lighter, more compact and easier to use. With the “Harmonic Equatorial Mount AM5”, ZWO offers a transportable mount for astrophotography. The mount weighs under 5 kg and supports telescopes up to 13 kg without a counterweight. With a counterweight and the counterweight rod (optional), the mount can even carry telescopes up to 20 kg. Several years of development work and various patents go into this exciting mount.

In equatorial mode, the mount must be precisely aligned with the north or south celestial pole. Small errors are of course corrected by autoguiding. Aligning the mount is quick and easy using the ASIAir or other suitable software.
Telescope Service and ZWO are working on an optional solution with a polar finder that is attached parallel to the mount.">Consistent tracking is guaranteed:
ZWO checks and measures every AM5 mount before delivery and guarantees a periodic error (PE) of less than +/-20 arcseconds. The periodic error occurs very slowly, so that the autoguider has enough time to correct it. Of course, the mount has an ST-4 autoguiding interface. The PE can also be reduced electronically using the ASIAir or other software.

The prism clamp now includes a DC output and a Type-C port to effectively prevent cables from tangling. The cable protection process ensures the safety of device operation: The unique design process ensures that the internal cables are not twisted and worn when the device rotates around the declination axis, thereby ensuring the operation of the device.
Important instructions:
An ASIAIR viewfinder shoe is attached to the side wall of the AM5. This is used to mount a polar finder. The viewfinder shoe is not suitable for mounting an ASIAIR at this point, as both the cable and the antenna of the ASIAIR can be crushed.">No more cable control thanks to WiFi:
All functions of the mount can be controlled via the smartphone. Of course, the AM5 works particularly well with ASIAir from ZWO. With the ASIAIR, everything from the camera to autoguiding to the mount can be controlled via an app on a smartphone or tablet. The mount can be operated with the hand box even without a smartphone. Of course, the handbox also works wirelessly. New: The app now also supports Bluetooth.
