Product information "Vixen SXP2WL-VC200L telescope set"
SXP2WL mount with powerful VC200L Cassegrain mirror telescope in a complete set
With this complete telescope set, you can start your hobby straight away. It comes with everything you need for astronomical observation: the telescope, an automatic mount with GoTo alignment and tracking, a tripod and two eyepieces.
The SXP2WL mount is equipped with the PFL-II polar finder for quick and easy alignment using reference stars and the STAR BOOK APP. This means that your telescope automatically moves to the objects you have chosen. Over 259,000 celestial objects are already stored in the STAR BOOK APP.
The VC200L Cassegrain telescope has been optimized for photography and delivers a sharp and high-contrast image right into the corners of the camera chip. Look forward to breathtaking, razor-sharp images of galaxies and nebulae. But this telescope is also ideal for visual observation with its high-contrast images without color errors.
You will be amazed when you take a look at the surface of the moon with its many craters or observe Saturn with its ring system.
The VISAC main mirror (= Vixen Sixth-Order Aspheric Cassegrain) has a special coating technology (state-of-the-art technology) and provides the optimal mirror surface for observation and photography. It enables controlled coating and corrects errors on the mirrors individually. Spherical aberration, coma and field curvature are absolutely foreign words for this optics.
The reason for this is also the three-lens field corrector in front of the convex secondary mirror.
The SXP2WL mount is simply operated via a WiFi module with a smartphone or tablet. The free STAR BOOK Wireless app is available for user-friendly control of the mount. This allows you to easily use practical celestial navigation functions such as automatic GoTo panning to certain celestial objects via your smartphone or tablet. Since the power consumption of the conventional LCD screen (STAR BOOK TEN) is eliminated, the power consumption of the mount is reduced by up to 20%. This enables astronomical observations and astrophotography over longer periods of time.
If you tap the desired celestial object from a list, it is automatically panned into the field of view of the telescope and tracking begins. An existing STAR BOOK TEN control can also be used on this mount without any problems. Equipped with the same precision stepper motors as the top model, the AXD mount, the SXP2WL brings a new standard of performance and precision to the Vixen mount family.
The axis cross of the SXP2 mount is just 13.3 kg light with a photographic load capacity of 17 kg and is therefore ideal for mobile observations. In addition, the motors attached to the lower part of the mount also serve as a counterweight. This means that the mount needs less weight for balancing.
The SXP2 mount uses larger ball bearings than the previous models to increase accuracy and load capacity. The mount housing is also made of thicker material. And to make the pole block even more stable, the axis cross is firmly clamped into a fork.
The SXP2WL mount in detail
Stronger mount housing
The SXP2 mount has larger ball bearings than the previous models to increase accuracy and load capacity. The mount housing is also characterized by a higher material thickness. And to make the pole block even more stable, the axis cross is firmly clamped in a fork.
Very precise tracking with P-PEC function
The SXP2 mount is supplied with the modern STAR BOOK TEN control. It offers you the P-PEC function for particularly precise tracking. The term ''PEC'' stands for ''Periodic Error Correction''. The system corrects the errors in the mechanics that create periodic errors in the gear systems. A P-PEC function is provided for the SXP2 equatorial mount, which has evolved from the PEC function. The P-PEC function saves the records of your corrections, even after the power supply to the mount has been switched off. This means you don't have to re-enter the data every time and benefit from faster operation and more accurate tracking.
Low-noise belt drive system with minimal play
Conventional motor drive systems on equatorial mounts use gears that are driven by the motor. However, this design has the disadvantage that there is a certain amount of play between the gears. To avoid the resulting inaccuracies, the SXP2 mount has a belt drive system. This greatly reduces both the play in the gear and the drive noise. In addition, the device reacts faster when corrections need to be made.
16 bearings
There are a total of 16 bearings in the mechanical parts of the SXP2 mount. A set of tapered roller bearings is used for the RA axis to achieve more stability for more precise tracking.
Stable polar altitude block for alignment
The SXP2 mount uses the same fork as the heavier AXJ mount. This new design enables quick and stable latitude adjustment.
Simple and precise polar alignment using reference stars
The 6x20 polar finder is already pre-installed. This allows you to set the polar alignment (for both the northern and southern hemispheres). The polar finder offers a variable illuminated reticle with an automatic switch-off function. The brightness can be adjusted in 8 levels so that you can adapt it to your individual needs. The polar finder is also equipped with a direct adjustment using three reference stars and can achieve an accuracy of up to 3 arc minutes.
Variable mounting head
The mounting head has a diameter of 35 mm and eight threaded holes for M8 screws, which are arranged at 45 degree intervals. An optional accessory plate can be attached directly or in combination with an optional mounting block for dovetail plates. In addition, the threaded holes on the mounting head enable the use of mounting rails from other manufacturers.
Combination of innovative, elegant design and user-friendly operation
The stable, rigid mounting body with very precise tracking has been further optimized by the P-PEC function. This makes the SXP2 a highly precise and easy-to-use mount that will make the heart of every astrophotographer and observer beat faster.
Special motor mounting for fewer counterweights
The heavy RA and DEC motor units are installed in the lower part of the declination so that the center of gravity of the axis cross is below the RA and DEC axes. This means that the declination body acts as a counterweight. The flat mounting head also means that the mount can be balanced with significantly less counterweight.
Retractable counterweight rod
The counterweight rod is made of solid stainless steel and has a diameter of 20 mm. You can use it with all counterweights from the SX and GP mount series. The counterweight rod is housed in the declination body.
Accessory shoe
The #35511 Polar Meter can be pushed onto this shoe for quick and easy polar alignment.
Latitude setting
The latitude is adjustable between 0 and 70 degrees (divided into 3 zones and adjustable +/- 15 degrees per zone, for high, medium and low latitudes).
The Vixen Wifi adapter in detail
The Vixen Wifi adapter for EQ mounts allows you to control your Vixen mount via a smartphone or tablet. This allows you to carry out celestial navigation without any cables using the STAR BOOK Wireless smartphone app (free). The app transforms your mobile device into a controller for the equatorial mount in no time at all. The response delay of the mount, which is considered the biggest disadvantage of wireless connections, has been reduced to a level comparable to that of wired solutions.
Reduced power consumption compared to conventional controls with LCD monitor
The power consumption of the mount is reduced by up to 20%, allowing longer observations than with conventional wired controls such as the STAR BOOK TEN.
Operation similar to the STAR BOOK TEN control
The STAR BOOK Wireless app is structured in a similar way to what you already know from the STAR BOOK TEN control. Depending on the star map setting, it contains up to 259,000 celestial objects. Tap on a celestial object in the object list and start the GoTo. The mount now automatically moves to this target and brings it into the field of view of the telescope. All of the popular features of the STAR BOOK TEN are retained.
Convenient operation
When looking through the telescope, you operate the mount by swiping on the star map in the app. Since there are no buttons, you can simply slide your finger over the star map and operate the mount comfortably.
Extensive astronomical data included
This includes data on easily observable celestial bodies such as Messier objects, NGC objects, IC objects, as well as the sun, moon, planets, comets and dwarf planets.
High-precision alignment
By aligning to one or two stars, you can achieve a fairly precise positioning of the mount. By aligning to three or more stars, the mount can be aligned with high precision for high magnifications. The objects are then moved exactly and centrally in the field of view of your telescope. The alignment information is saved and can be retained even when the device is turned off. By leaving the telescope in its current state after completing an observation without moving it, you can start the automatic installation with the same settings the next time you observe.
Individual setting options
The app offers various individual settings, such as gear play compensation, night mode in red, autoguider, and variable GoTo speed and LED brightness, as well as setting the time at which the lens tube is reversed (meridian flip) as desired. Even if the object moves south during tracking, you can prevent the telescope tube from reversing.
