Products description

Adjusting a Hotech laser

Product Description
If a Hotech laser collimator shows a misalignment, noticeable, for example, by a circular movement on the primary mirror while rotating the collimator in the focuser, we have compiled instructions for use without major tools.

All you need is a 1.3 hex bit and a (Newtonian) telescope with a focuser.

To perform the adjustment, we point the focuser vertically to the ground and place the laser in the focuser so that the laser is held in the focuser solely by gravity. We remove the cover in Figure 2 so that we have a clear view of the adjustment screws, Figure 1.
We rotate the alignment laser in the focuser and loosen/lock the adjustment screws to minimize the circular movement. The laser spot should move toward the center of the described circular path; then we are on the right track. It is important that we do not influence the laser's position by applying pressure.

If the laser spot is no longer visible, e.g., due to excessive misalignment, or only appears as a blurry spot, we can also remove the adjustment disc module completely and reinsert it after the adjustment is complete so that the laser beam can pass through the center opening of this module unhindered. To do this, simply loosen the screw shown in Figure 2.
