Product information "Vixen SXP2WL-SD115S II telescope set"
SXP2WL SD115SII telescope complete set with WiFi GoTo mount, tripod and eyepieces

This high-quality apochromatic refractor telescope set impresses with its 115 mm SD optics. The telescope is made in Japan and scores with its excellent workmanship, sharpness and contrast performance. The advantage of this SD refractor is its low weight and a very color-pure and high-contrast image. You will be amazed when you use it to observe the surface of the moon with its craters or Saturn with its ring system. On a good night, the two bright cloud bands and many smaller details on Jupiter become visible, such as the large red spot on the planet. On moonless nights, you can observe the Andromeda Nebula, Orion Nebula, Eagle Nebula, Lagoon Nebula and many other interesting objects. But even fainter celestial objects are visible under a good sky with this large aperture of 115 mm.

This telescope set "Made in Japan" simply leaves nothing to be desired. The FPL53 glass built into the telescope reproduces an extremely clear and sharp image by eliminating residual color errors to an exceptionally high degree. The SD glass is designed to bring all rays - violet, red, blue, yellow and green - together very precisely on the same plane. The special lens material thus reduces chromatic aberration across all colors. The new Vixen SD115SII no longer uses spacer plates, which leads to significantly better image quality, especially with bright stars. In photographic images, spikes on the stars that would otherwise be caused by the spacer plates are no longer visible.
In combination with the optional SD Reducer HD Kit or SD Flattener HD (not included), this refractor telescope enables illumination with a 44 mm image circle for full-format SLR cameras. The older ED81SII, ED103S, ED115S refractors were originally developed for visual observers and photographers with APS-C cameras. However, the new SD series is also optimized for use with full-frame cameras thanks to the use of new internal apertures. The large 60 mm eyepiece extension also allows heavy cameras to be attached without tipping over. Furthermore, the folding mirror supplied allows comfortable observation even in unfavorable observation situations and also offers a T2 thread for connecting a DSLR camera. This allows you to observe in a straight line or at a 90° angle. The carrying handle attached to the tube clamps ensures a secure hold when transporting the telescope. The sturdy metal tripod enables vibration-free recording of the telescope and mount even in windy weather.
The SXP2WL mount is simply operated via a WiFi module with a smartphone or tablet. The free STAR BOOK Wireless app is available for user-friendly control of the mount. This allows you to use practical functions of celestial navigation such as automatic GoTo panning to certain celestial objects easily via your smartphone or tablet. Since the power consumption of the conventional LCD screen (STAR BOOK TEN) is eliminated, the power consumption of the mount is reduced by up to 20%. This enables astronomical observations and astrophotography over longer periods of time.
If you tap the desired celestial object from a list, it is automatically panned into the field of view of the telescope and tracking begins. An existing STAR BOOK TEN control can also be used on this mount without any problems. Equipped with the same precision stepper motors as the top model, the AXD mount, the SXP2WL brings a new standard of performance and precision to the Vixen mount family.
The axis cross of the SXP2 mount is just 13.3 kg light with a photographic load capacity of 17 kg and is therefore ideal for mobile observations.

In addition, the motors installed in the lower part of the mount also serve as a counterweight. This means that the mount needs fewer weights to compensate.
The SXP2 mount uses larger ball bearings than the previous models to increase accuracy and load capacity. The mount housing is also characterized by a thicker material. And to make the pole block even more stable, the axis cross is firmly clamped into a fork.

The SXP2 mount in detail

Stronger mount housing
The SXP2 mount uses larger ball bearings than the previous models to increase accuracy and load capacity. The mount housing is also characterized by a thicker material. And to make the pole block even more stable, the axis cross is firmly clamped into a fork.

Very precise tracking with P-PEC function
The SXP2 mount is supplied with the modern STAR BOOK TEN control system. It offers you the P-PEC function for particularly precise tracking. The term ''PEC'' stands for ''Periodic Error Correction''. The system corrects the errors in the mechanics that cause periodic errors in the gear systems. A P-PEC function is provided for the SXP2 equatorial mount, which has evolved from the PEC function. The P-PEC function saves the records of your corrections even after the power to the mount has been switched off. This means that you do not have to re-enter the data each time and benefit from faster operation and more accurate tracking.

Low-noise belt drive system with minimal play
Conventional motor drive systems on equatorial mounts use gears that are driven by the motor. However, this design has the disadvantage that a certain amount of play occurs under the gears. To avoid the resulting inaccuracies, the SXP2 mount has a belt drive system. This greatly reduces both the play in the gear and the drive noise. In addition, the device reacts more quickly when corrections need to be made.

16 bearings
There are a total of 16 bearings in the mechanical parts of the SXP2 mount. A set of tapered roller bearings is used for the RA axis to achieve greater stability for more precise tracking.

Stable polar altitude block for alignment
The SXP2 mount uses the same fork as the heavier AXJ mount. This new design enables quick and stable latitude adjustment.

Easy and accurate polar alignment using reference stars
The 6x20 polar finder is already pre-installed. This allows you to set the polar alignment (for both the northern and southern hemispheres). The polar finder offers a variable illuminated reticle with an automatic switch-off function. The brightness can be adjusted in 8 levels so that you can adapt it to your individual needs. The polar finder is also equipped with direct adjustment using three reference stars and can achieve an accuracy of up to 3 arc minutes.

Variable mounting head
The mounting head has a diameter of 35 mm and eight threaded holes for M8 screws, which are arranged at 45 degrees. An optional accessory plate can be attached directly or in combination with an optional mounting block for dovetail plates. In addition, the threaded holes on the mounting head enable the use of mounting rails from other manufacturers.

Combination of innovative, elegant design and user-friendly operation
The stable, rigid mount body with very precise tracking has been further optimized by the P-PEC function. This makes the SXP2 a highly precise and easy-to-use mount that makes the heart of every astrophotographer and observer beat faster.

Special motor attachment for fewer counterweights
The heavy RA and DEC motor units are installed in the lower part of the declination so that the center of gravity of the axis cross is under the RA and DEC axes. This means that the declination body acts as a counterweight. The flat mounting head also means that the mount can be balanced with considerably less counterweight.

Retractable counterweight rod
The counterweight rod is made of solid stainless steel and has a diameter of 20 mm. You can use all counterweights from the SX and GP mount series. The counterweight rod is housed in the declination body.

Accessory shoe
The #35511 Polar Meter can be slid onto this shoe for quick and easy polar alignment.

Latitude setting
The latitude is adjustable between 0 and 70 degrees (divided into 3 zones and adjustable +/- 15 degrees per zone, for high, medium and low latitudes).

The Vixen Wifi adapter in detail

The Vixen Wifi adapter for EQ mounts allows you to control your Vixen mount via a smartphone or tablet. This allows you to use the STAR BOOK Wireless smartphone app (free) to navigate the sky without any cables. The app transforms your mobile device into a controller for the equatorial mount in no time at all. The response delay of the mount, which is considered the biggest disadvantage of wireless connections, has been reduced to a level comparable to wired solutions.

Reduced power consumption compared to conventional controls with LCD monitor
The power consumption of the mount is reduced by up to 20%, allowing longer observations than with conventional wired controls such as the STAR BOOK TEN.

Operation similar to the STAR BOOK TEN control
The STAR BOOK Wireless app is structured in a similar way to what you already know from the STAR BOOK TEN control. Depending on the star map setting, it contains up to 259,000 celestial objects. Tap on a celestial object in the object list and start the GoTo. The mount now automatically moves to this target and brings it into the field of view of the telescope. All of the popular features of the STAR BOOK TEN are retained.

Convenient operation
When looking through the telescope, you operate the mount by swiping on the app's star map. Since there are no buttons, you simply slide your finger over the star map and can thus conveniently operate the mount.

Extensive astronomical data included
This includes data on easily observable celestial bodies such as Messier objects, NGC objects, IC objects, as well as the sun, moon, planets, comets and dwarf planets.

High-precision alignment
By aligning to one or two stars, you can achieve a fairly precise positioning of the mount. By aligning to three or more stars, a highly precise alignment of the mount can be carried out for high magnifications. The objects are then moved exactly and centrally in the field of view of your telescope. The alignment information is saved and can be retained even when the device is switched off. By leaving the telescope in its current state after completing an observation without moving it, you can start the automatic installation with the same settings the next time you observe.

Individual setting options
As with the STAR BOOK TEN control, the app offers various individual settings such as gear play compensation, night mode in red, autoguider as well as variable GoTo speed and LED brightness. You can also set the time of reversal of the lens tube (meridian flip) as desired. Even if the object moves south during tracking, you can prevent the telescope tube from reversing.

Important information
Cannot be used on old SX mounts with the old blue Star Book
