Sky-Watcher's new, improved ESPRIT EDX 3-element ED apochromatic refractors are top-of-the-line instruments with impressive optical performance that rivals or even surpasses comparable telescopes from even the most well-known high-end brands.
ESPRIT EDX Super Apo Triplets were designed primarily for demanding astrophotographers, but are also ideal for visual observation. The high-quality, superbly corrected optical systems deliver high-contrast, detailed images with no noticeable color fringing, even on the brightest objects, ensuring exceptional contrast and sharpness.
The ESPRIT 80EDX features the same outstanding f/5 optical system as its predecessor, including a high-quality Japanese Ohara FPL-53 ED glass lens element. Each air-to-glass lens surface is coated with an exclusive anti-reflective metal coating to ensure optimal light transmission of nearly 99.5%! Sky-Watcher's proprietary "Metallic High-Transmission Coatings" (MHTC) are the best-in-class photonic anti-reflective coatings!
The ESPRIT 80EDX features an improved backend design that eliminates the rotary dial of the previous model, allowing for easier focuser rotation. Additionally, a rotating adapter is attached to the drawtube, further facilitating image composition. The previously built-in dovetail base is also eliminated; instead, a dovetail rail and a single tube ring with a hinged cover are included. A carrying handle provides additional comfort. The extremely robust, CNC-machined, two-speed linear focuser with rack and pinion drive offers high load capacity and image shift freedom, along with a 2.8-inch indexing drawtube. Supplied in a foam-lined storage/carrying case with an aluminum frame.

An optically adjusted field flattener (code 20187) is available as an optional imaging accessory.
